Cutting Edge Technology or Bunk?
When it was released, the DePuy ASR hip replacement system was heralded as cutting edge technology, promising to provide patients with over 15 years of pain free movement. Soon after its release in 2005, some patients began complaining of a resurgence of pain following surgery. Investigation revealed that the metal-on-metal hip device was quickly degrading and generating painful metal debris.
